Below is our interview with David Richards, CEO of WANdisco:
Q: David, you’ve recently announced your first contract in Healthcare sector; could you tell us something more?
A: Sadly, we can’t name many of our customers. But in this instance, a large US healthcare company which serves 50 million Americans in all 50 states needed to deploy business-critical strategic patient data across a new Big Data/Cloud infrastructure which has stringent requirements around continuous availability of the applications and data. Fusion was therefore selected as it was the only enterprise-level solution that could transfer the large volumes of continuously changing critical patient data to the Cloud without impacting its availability and consistency.
Q: Can you give us more insights into your products?
A: We are the only solution in the world which can move large volumes of continuously changing, transactional data to different storage environments with guaranteed data consistency and no downtime. Our products are underpinned by our Fusion technology which takes the Paxos algorithm, the foundation of distributed computing, to the next level. We also solve the eight fallacies of distributed computing – something computer science still says is impossible.

Q: What are your plans for next six months?
A: The investment thesis is simple.
If you believe that companies move key applications from “small data’ to ‘big data’ then they will need to continue to support the same stipulated regulations around data availability & reliability. What was a “minimal outage” in the small data world is a major outage in the big data world.We will continue to prove that we are the only solution to this problem in the best way possible: signing new customers.
