Below is our recent interview with Jordan Tanner, Co-Founder and CEO at GiveHope:

Jordan Tanner

Q: Jordan, what is your story?

A: My name is Jordan Tanner, co-founder and CEO at GiveHope. I was born and raised in London, England where my passion for technology, culture, design, nature, and improving society started. I’m a father to two beautiful children, which has motivated me to make this world a friendlier place through technology.

I started my tech career at Facebook as a content strategist. Later I joined the digital department at Universal Music Group in London. In 2012, I joined the team at Pheed, a mobile pay-per-view platform that was acquired by American Movil in 2014 for $40 million. In 2014, I was part of the founding team at Music Messenger, a popular music streaming platform partnered with music industry luminaries such as Will.I.Am, David Guetta, Nicki Minaj, Avicii, Tiesto and several others.

In 2017, I had the idea to venture into the fundraising world to pursue my passions of helping others. That’s when I linked up with former Facebook colleagues and co-founded GiveHope, an online donation and crowdfunding platform to help people raise money online for personal causes and life events.

GiveHope’s purpose is to utilize and develop technology that empowers positive change. We aim to measure success by the number of lives we help benefit.

Q: What was your first big breakthrough?

A: My first big breakthrough at GiveHope, when I knew my platform could change people’s lives for the better, was after our first big fundraiser – which raised $176,000 for a loving husband and father who passed suddenly.

This fundraiser opened only a few days after GiveHope went live, and we weren’t expecting to host such a large-scale fundraiser right away. That is when I realized that GiveHope was more than just a fundraising website, but an online community where people can come together and help their friends, family, colleagues and even strangers.

Q: You have recently raised $500K could you tell us more about your recent funding round?

A: From the start, GiveHope was a well-funded start-up. We completed our first round of funding in 2016, which helped get us started. We were introduced to internet entrepreneur Oded ‘O.D.’ Kobo through colleagues and he expressed interest in becoming part of the GiveHope team. We were familiar with his success in the tech world, and since joining forces, we’ve only grown as a company.

O.D. Kobo invested $500,000 in GiveHope which we will use to continue our exponential growth.

Q: How do people typically discover or become aware of your platform?

A: 95% of our users are organic and find us from searching the web for online fundraising platforms. We’ve also teamed up with nonprofits who have helped spread the word about our site. Most of our users fundraiser for personal causes, but we also host many campaigns dedicated to large non-profits which helps introduce a new audience to our platform.

Q: What can we expect from your team in the near future?

A: We’re looking forward to GiveHope becoming the leading free fundraising platform. We work day and night to make sure our users are offered the best technology, customer service and overall experience. We are always improving, and we hope with our new investment of $500,000 we will have the opportunity to grow our site to its maximum potential.
