HomeSeer is a smart home systems company that’s been in operation since 1999. Below is our recent interview with Mark Colegrove, Sales Director at HomeSeer:

Q: Could you provide our readers with a brief introduction to HomeSeer Technologies?

A: We manufacture home controllers (“smart hubs”), smart lighting products, smart sensors and more. Our smart home controllers leverage the speed, reliability and security of locally-managed automation while tapping into the power of cutting-edge cloud-managed services such as those offered by IFTTT, Amazon (Alexa) and Google Home.

Q: Could you explain the most prominent advantages of HomeSeer HS-WD200+ Z-Wave Plus Dimmer?

A: HS-WD200+ is a Z-Wave Plus wall dimmer that’s also designed to function as a multi-tap scene controller and smart home visual annunciator. We accomplished this be leveraging the following two technologies:

For scene control, we added the Z-Wave “Central Scene” command class to the dimmer’s firmware. This command class is designed to issue discrete Z-Wave commands when the dimmer’s paddle is tapped (top or bottom) 1, 2, 3, 4, or 5 times. On the back end, compatible controllers can use these commands to launch automation scenes or events.

Annunciator features required changes to both the dimmer’s hardware and firmware. The seven (7) LED dim level indicators have been converted from simple LEDs to RGB LEDs that can be INDIVIDUALLY controlled with simple Z-Wave parameter commands. This allows users to program each LED to glow or blink different colors when things happen in their homes. Supported colors include RED, GREEN, BLUE, MAGENTA, CYAN, YELLOW and WHITE.

To our knowledge, no other smart switch or dimmer incorporates this combination of features and technology.

HS-WD200+ is compatible with all HomeSeer, SmartThings and Vera Hubs. Complete information may be found here.
