Zoom makes video and web conferencing frictionless. Founded in 2011, Zoom is the leader in modern enterprise cloud video communications, with a secure, easy platform for video and audio conferencing, messaging, and webinars across mobile, desktop, and room systems. Zoom is based in San Jose, California and employs nearly 600 people worldwide. Their customers include more than 650,000 businesses and 6,900 educational institutions. Below is our interview with Janine Pelosi, Head of Marketing at Zoom Video Communications:
Q: You’ve recently announced that Zoom was named 18th on the very prestigious Forbes 2017 Cloud 100 list; can you tell us a little more about this award?
A: In July of this year, Zoom was named 18th on the very prestigious Forbes 2017 Cloud 100 list, which is a definitive list of the top 100 private cloud companies in the world and is published by Forbes in collaboration with Bessemer Venture Partners. Last year Zoom was 84th on this list.
Forbes and Bessemer Venture Partners received hundreds of submissions for the award from top cloud startups. The Forbes Cloud 100 judge panel, made up primarily of public cloud company CEOs, selected and ranked the top 100 companies from all over the world. The panel used four factors: estimated valuation (30%), operating metrics (20%), people & culture (15%), and market leadership (35%), which they then weighed to select, score, and rank the winners.
According to Byron Deeter, a partner at Bessemer Venture Partners, “The Forbes 2017 Cloud 100 companies are leading the cloud technology revolution.”
Q: Can you give us more insights into your solutions?
A: Until Zoom was introduced, business-grade video conferencing solutions were known to be difficult to use and expensive. In fact, rather than use the available business-grade solutions, most employees used to turn to the phone or consumer-grade solutions (e.g. Skype, Hangouts, etc.). With Zoom’s cloud video communications solutions, organizations can have an enterprise-grade, affordable, and completely useable all-in-one platform for their video conferencing, audio conferencing, web conferencing, and IM/presence needs. Zoom works the same way on mobile devices as it does on desktops or in conference rooms. Zoom Rooms, our original software-based conference room solution, allows organizations to create hundreds of meeting rooms of all sizes, such as training rooms, conference rooms, or huddle rooms. Zoom Rooms uses off-the-shelf hardware, making the solution very affordable and scalable, and offers everything users need in one platform — video, audio, and one-click wireless screen sharing of laptops and mobile devices.
Q: What makes Zoom a good choice?
A: Zoom is completely intuitive for end users, easy for IT to deploy, scale, and manage, has the highest quality video and audio, and it is so affordable that any company can give licenses to every employee and make all their rooms Zoom rooms.
Zoom is also incredibly reliable. In fact, Wainhouse Research reviewed Zoom and said, “Mostly we like the fact that Zoom calls always work – no matter what. From the office. From home. From the hotel. From the airport. From the coffee shop. Despite our best efforts, it was hard to break Zoom… While nothing is perfect, Zoom is not that far off.”
Finally, other third-parties, including the following, have given Zoom great ratings:
· A 4.8 out of 5 star rating on Gartner Peer Insights,
· An industry-leading Net Promoter Score (NPS) of 69,
· Designation as a G2 Crowd Leader and a 4.5 out of 5 rating on G2 Crowd,
· An 8.9 out of 10 rating on TrustRadius software reviews,
· A customer satisfaction rating of 96 percent*, and
· A TMC.Net 2017 Communications Solutions Product of the Year.
*Based on Wootric surveys of more than 7,000 Zoom customers in 2017.
Q: What are your plans for next six months?
A: During the next six months, as always, we will continue working hard to ensure that we deliver happiness to our customers and deliver innovative, frictionless cloud-based web and video conferencing solutions. One of the initiatives we’ll focus on is further developing our Zoom Rooms and core meetings solutions, with particular emphasis on helping our customers host the most efficient meetings possible. On September 26th, we will host Zoomtopia, our first annual user conference, and will use that event as a forum for our customers to learn from the Zoom team and each other about topics such as effective meetings and the future of the workplace. Most importantly, during Zoomtopia, we’ll celebrate Zoom customers and the successes they’ve achieved using our cloud video communications solution. Other things we’ll be doing in the next six months include growing our teams worldwide, especially in the offices we recently opened in the UK and AU.
