Founded 10 years ago by industry veteran, Lauren Kelley, OPEXEngine is the only independent benchmarking platform to collect, anonymize and aggregate peer benchmarks for the software and SaaS industries. Hundreds of private and public companies subscribe and use the platform for comparing budgets, planning future expansion, identifying areas of weakness to improve and communicate with stakeholders. To find out more about their platform we sat down with Lauren Kelley, the Founder and CEO of OPEXEngine:

Q: What makes OPEXEngine a good choice?

A: Companies use OPEXEngine’s data platform to inform their budgeting and planning process, make data driven decisions and get their whole teams on board with the best targets for the company. Companies choose to use OPEXEngine’s data because it is developed independently, only paying subscribers input the data, so it isn’t gathered through a free survey with unqualified participation, and because OPEXEngine gives its users the ability to look at over 60 different ways to compare themselves to peers.

Q: You’ve recently announced collaboration with Adaptive Insights to meet the benchmarking needs of SaaS and software companies; could you tell us something more?

A: AdaptiveInsights is a leader in corporate performance management and used by over 3000 companies worldwide, will now make financial and operating benchmarks available to its over 400 software customers. OPEXEngine will bring hundreds of new companies onto its platform, which will only improve the peer insights and benchmarking.

Q: Can you give us more insights into your Benchmarks?

A: OPEXEngine was founded by operating executives with decades of experience building fast growth companies, and the OPEXEngine benchmarking platform reflects that experience. The platform spans key financial, recurring revenue and business model KPIs, as well as deeper dives into Sales metrics, Marketing benchmarks, R&D, Professional Services, Customer Support, and General & Admistrative (G&A) metrics. Companies use the OPEXEngine benchmarks in budget planning, comparisons against benchmarks for leading companies in the market, as well as planning future growth.

Q: What are your plans for next six months?

A: Over the next 6 months, we plan to invest more in our sales and marketing, as well as in our data platform. In addition, we are looking at packaging some of the insights developed over 10 years of working with fast growth companies into an educational program to expand the understanding of key SaaS metrics and benchmarks in the industry. We are excited about the opportunities to grow.
